Hard Working Drug Division Finding Many Lawrence Meth Labs
The homemade drug that's often cooked in local kitchens is being found all over Lawrence County.
But Lawrence County is no different than any other Middle Tennessee County when it comes to the number of illegal meth labs and meth usage.
So far this year, thirty four meth labs have been discovered, disabled and eventually destroyed.
There's little doubt that the Drug Division of the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department is aggressive in their pursuit of meth cookers.
"Our drug division is 'in tune' with what's going on in the drug culture, if you will," said Chief Deputy Terry Beecham.
"And they're busting their humps trying to find the meth labs."
Beecham said the shift officers are also helping out in the fight against drugs.
"They stay in constant contact with our drug division and alert them to any suspicious activity.," said Beecham.
In the past week, good police work led to the discovery of five more meth labs.
