e set up this website with the intention of people being able to find out a bit more about us. We have stepped into this HUGE dalmatian world, where everyone knows everyone, a world we would love to be part of.
Polka is our first dalmatian, we have both been bought up with dogs, but never a dalmatian. When we got our first place together we thought and thought about getting a dog and trying to work out what would be the best breed for us. We thought of labradors, red setters, weimeramas but nothing seemed to click. Beth, our daughter suggested a dalmatian, ok we thought, so we got as many books as we could find on them and spent the next 6 months reading. The more we read, the more we liked and felt that they seemed suitable for our hectic and crazy lifestyle. So that was it, decision made.
We visited breeders and one off people all over the country, some we liked, some we didnt, some liked us, some didnt. We made some great contacts along the way who have given us guidance and advice before and after homing Polka, which is much appreciated, particular thanks to Caprilli, Phidgity, Caldecacre and Tumbril. Polka's breeder, Helen Randall, has been fantastic and we feel extreamly lucky to have found her and to have homed her boy.
Mark and I both work full time (myself as an accountant and Mark as a bricklayer) and have no intention of doing otherwise (hence why some breeders weren't so keen). We are a modern family in a modern world and as lovely as it would be to be in the days when us women could stay at home changing nappies, I wouldnt have it any other way. Beth went full time at nursery at a year old so that I could continue with my accountancy work and studies, she is a happy, confident child and is more loved than anyone. Polka & Rosie go to work with Mark everyday (Mark works on alterations to country homes), his clients love them and they love going.
We had a rough ride in finding Rosie as I'm sure many of you will know. Thank you to those of you who offered support and advice as we got into a situation way out of our depth and for offering guidance in a situtation which we knew nothing about. It was a horrible week but ended so happily with the arrival of Rosie. A HUGE thank you to Tumbril Dalmatians for letting us home Rosie, she's a fabulous addition who we shall do our upmost best for throughout her life. She loves being with us and Polka loves having someone to cause mischeif with at work! Jo & Mark Rosier (Andover, Hampshire)
