Ian's performing career has closely followed David Haines' writing/composing career over the last decade-and-a-half. Ian has taken many leading roles in David's music theatre works over that period, including several premieres - an archaeology professor, ageing toyboy, eco-friendly terrorist, dying pedestrian trapped beneath the wheels of a truck, numerology-obsessed depressive, security-guard-turned-art-thief… the list goes on. In Pentopera alone he plays four singing roles - infatuated TV producer, Scots brickie, horny alien and philandering boyfriend. Ian Shields in a tender moment with Pamela Plastique
