Clubs are reminded that applications for Christmas grants should be made to the Hon. Treasurer by 16 November 2011. His contact details can be seen on page 219 of the current County Handbook.

REG WRIGHT RIP
The death is announced of Reg Wright. Reg was a member of White Hall BC for over 50 years and a longstanding member of the Group Executive including acting as the Group 6 Coach and County Selector. The funeral will take place at Southend Crematorium on Friday 14 October 2011 at 12 noon and afterwards at the Saxon Hall Aviation Way SS2 6UN. All donations to Fairhavens Macmillan Team

LARSEN BC
The Larsen club have recently taken over, from the local council, the maintenance of their green. They are in urgent need of a bowls green mower and wish to here from any club that may have a surplus mower or any other equipment required to maintain the green.

Essex are grouped with Suffolk (A), Leicestershire (H), Hertfordshire (A) & Cambridgeshire (H) for the 2013 season and the reverse fixtures for 2014. New challenges lie ahead in another strong group.

BELLE VUE CASTLE BC
Belle Vue Castle (Group 1) have notified the County that they have folded. The Club was an amalgamation, in 2000, of Belle Vue and Castle. In 1976, Brotherhood (Colchester) was renamed Castle.

COUNTY LUNCH
The Annual County Luncheon and Presentation of Awards and Prizes took place at the excellent Stock Brook Country Club with 170 members and guests in attendance. The principal guest was Peter Arnold, Vice Chairman Bowls England Board, who responded to the toast of Bowls England proposed by Senior Deputy President George Coster. President of Bowls Cambridgeshire, Tony Taylor, proposed the toast to the Association to which President Tony Ellis replied. He thanked all who had made his year in office so enjoyable with special thanks for the support of the Officers and those of his wife Maureen. Earlier, there were six recipients of the Bill Wallis awards, Les Cook (Silver End), Jim Smith (Princess Marie Louise), Bernard Cann (Writtle), John Plumb (Old Dagenham Park), Joe Dark (Aveley) and Wally Grimsey (Colchester West End). The afternoon concluded with the Presentation of Awards and Prizes.

The funeral of Peter Ball, who died on 3 November, will take place at Parndon Wood Cemetery Harlow CM19 4SF at 1.45 pm on Wednesday 16 November.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (Amended 23 November)
The Annual General Meeting of the Essex County Bowling Association took place on Saturday 19 November 2011 at the Marconi Athletic & Social Club, Great Baddow, Chelmsford.
President Tony Ellis opened the meeting with a welcome to delegates. He asked for a minutes silence in memory of deceased members.
The minutes of the AGM held on Saturday 20 November 2010, previously circulated, were approved.
There were no matters arising

Past President David Johnson proposed a vote of thanks to the retiring Officers
The Election of Officers took place with George Coster (Wanstead Central) elected as President 2012. Nominations for Senior and Junior Deputy were received for Gordon Barrett (Witham) and Trevor Hackett (Elsenham) but did not strictly comply with Para 12 (v) of the Constitution (28 days notice). This matter will now be decided by the Emergency Committee. *
All the remaining posts (as on the Agenda) were elected with one change, Bowls England Delegate should have read A Knight.
Retiring President Tony Ellis, along with retiring County Greens Advisor John Collyer and former Group 4 Officer Peter Burdon, were awarded Honorary Life Membership.
The Bowlers Benevolent Fund accounts can be viewed on link below. Severalls BC were the winners of the Ethel Margaret Hammond Trophy with Birchanger BC receiving the David (Shadrach) Trophy as runners up
David Mitchell-Gears, Norman Harris, Ken Playle and Bert Wright were elected to the Benevolent Fund Committee.
Unification. Trevor Bason reported the process of unification had reached it's final phase and the meeting then approved the revised Rules and Regulations which would replace the existing ECBA Constitution. The first meeting of the new Essex Bowling Association will take place on Wednesday 23 November

The 2012 County Tour will be to Hampshire.
The investiture of the 2012 President George Coster then took place.
The Meeting closed at 4 pm  
Prior to the meeting, President Elect George Coster hosted a lunch at the Princess Marie Louise club which was attended by 28 members, including 12 Past Presidents.
* The Emergency Commitee met on Wednesday 23 November and approved the election of the Senior and Junior Deputy Presidents.

PAST PRESIDENTS
Past Presidents Chairman, Keith Riley, completed his five year period of county office with an indoor game against Falcon IBC. Before the game there was presentation in recognition of Keith playing 100 County games. Keith is pictured above with County Competition Secretary Alex Wightman.
