24V Cosworth V6 track car

The Cosworth 24V is now one of the most popular conversions and for good reason.

These engines have never been more affordable and the results are spectacular.
The information gathered here is just a taste of what can be achieved with the right parts.

We're slowly putting the car together and adding information as we go.
If you're thinking about doing a 24V, hopefully it will be useful.

This car was built by a club member using all the right bits
and a little help and information from us
It could well be the best one you will see.
If ours turns out anything like this, we'll be well happy.

It will be for sale eventually but don't hold your breath!!
the last one took ages.

By the time the pads are fitted, that's a grand spent.
Top adjustable coilovers and the Brembo 300 system
300 Lb springs and genuine Ford roller top mounts.
We're fitting Escort Cosworth 8x16 wheels which need a 6mm spacer
ring so the wheel centre on the hubs is extra long.

Been putting this little job off - not been looking forward to
cutting two new track arms in half.
The finished items
Next time, think I'll spend the money and buy them
ready done - not a 10 minute job.

The inner end bolt is larger too - 1/2 rather than 3/8 unf
Wasn't expecting that - guess the cross member will be drilled to suit
Some of the parts you see here are available in our ebay shop.

3.44 - 1 LSD axle with vented Cosworth disc kit.
That's the best part of another grand spent.
In and on the mounts

The MT 75 can be fitted a little lower without
the need for major work like this.
We've gone for getting the box higher as the
car will be very low.
We're using the original cross member modified to suit
The holes in the plate are welded and re-drilled.
The fixings are re-drilled and tapped to M10 with stronger
12.9 socket cap bolts.

Part of the problem fitting a 24V is where to fit the battery.
As this is a track car, the old favourite - battery box in the
rear seat well will do us fine.
You can see the main lead to the starter and the cut-off switch.
This is the wiring for the injection system.
2 relays & 4 fuses
The rest of the loom is from the Granada which
we should get round to fitting soon.

We're using a specially made shift remote to suit the Capri
with a genuine Ford Motorsport quick-shift joint.
It's a lot taller to get the stick closer to the steering wheel.
Got our seats organised
Corbeau Forza 2000  - FIA approved

As you can see, we have cleaned and re-sealed the underside. We were very lucky, our shell is in amazing condition.
A couple of minor repairs but nothing serious.

Just making sure the wheels fit before we order the tyres.
We're going for 225-40-16 all being well.
The Cosworth escort wheel is a nice looking wheel but
fitting to a Capri is not without problems.
We're using outboard mounted discs so we have a built in 8mm spacer already.
These pictures show an extra 10mm on the back and 6mm on the front.
With 225 tyres, looks like the front tyre may touch the thread on the strut
so might have to go to 10mm on the front too.

We use this same radiator and fan system for both 12 & 24V
cars. It's a Sierra rad from DOHC or 4x4 and the fans are
Sierra or Granada DOHC
We get asked about the rad mods a lot.
This is what the front pannel look like.

We were made a good offer so we let it go to get into the next project.

Because this one was such a good spec and we had so much interest,
