24V Cosworth V6


The Cosworth 24V is now one of the most popular conversions and for good reason.

These engines have never been more affordable and the results are spectacular.
The information gathered here is just a taste of what can be achieved with the right parts.
Yes - there are short-cuts - take a look at the various forums if you want to cut corners
but don't bring the resulting problems to us.
 
The simple rules for a reliable swap
 
Use the engine how Ford intended with the oxygen sensors and the speed sensor.
 
Use a radiator much the same size as the Granada item - not the old Capri rubbish.
 
Fit a gearbox and clutch that will handle the power and torque - not the type 9

This is a Twin Cam box with a 4x4 front cover fitted.
This will not work so check carefully when you buy.
Note the length of the input shaft

The best results seem to be with a short inlet
and large filter. The Samco hose is easily available
Cut the filter adapter from the original Granada air box

We use this same radiator and fan system for both 12 & 24V
cars. It's a Sierra rad from DOHC or 4x4 and the fans are
Sierra or Granada DOHC
Note the small cut-out for the bottom hose.
We use the original 4x4 bottom hose and our own
top hose with the thermoswitch for the rad fans.
