The mission of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Theatrical Alliance (NEPTA) is to promote and support all member theater companies, to foster communication among those theater companies, and to increase public awareness of its members.
What does that mean? It’s really quite simple. Promote and Support--Of course, when you have a show running the same time another member company does, you’d like the public to come to your show. But you can still display posters in your lobby announcing other members' shows, provide links on your website to other member companies, or forward other members' show announcements to your email list. By doing these simple things and more, we promote the work of the other member companies and community theater in general, and let the public know there are lots of area companies producing fine theater entertainment.
Foster Communication--Information from NEPTA board meetings can be extremely beneficial when shared with other members. By keeping the lines of communication open, we can share costumes and props; solve lighting, sound, and other technical problems; find new directors and actors; and swap scripts to make finding future shows easier. The list is endless. The benefits are great!
Increase Public Awareness--By working together to promote NEPTA, we increase public awareness of our own theater companies. Whether through a joint advertising venture with the media or participating in fundraising activities like our college scholarship fund, we expose the public to your company--who you are, where you are, and what you do. The annual NEPTA Awards Show is the probably the best P.R. tool of all. Besides the opportunity for pre- and post-show publicity, it puts all NEPTA theater companies under one roof, demonstrating how we work together and support each other. It also creates some great photo ops!
As you can see, there's a lot to gain and nothing to lose by joining the NEPTA organization--as the current members already know!
