Wednesday Evenings 6.30pm - 8.00pm
This section is for young people aged between Eight & Ten & a half. Normally the boys join from Beavers and it is here that they start to learn about camping skills, the great outdoors and the community around them. There are lots of fun things that boys can do in the Cub Scouts. Activities like swimming, music, exploring, computing & collecting. Cubs can earn badges for these activities, which they can wear on their uniforms. Cubs also get the chance to take part in trips and days out. Sometimes this will involve camping with the rest of the pack. This will mean the fun of sleeping in a tent and taking part in outdoor activities.

We meet in the Lookwide Centre on a Wednesday evening from 6.30pm - 8.00pm during the school term time. Each week as part of the balanced programme, there is usually something relating to one or more of the activities & challenges. The cubs have done activities such as cooking pancakes, card making & painted glass lights. In between all of these activities we run a wide variety of games every pack night, which are both fun & challenging. All the work the Cubs do is recorded & eventually a Cub will have done enough work to gain a badge. There is also a huge range of activity badges to work for. These mostly cover special interests and hobbies. The Cubs are also encouraged to work towards badges themselves and where we cannot provide the activity, an outside organisation / instructor, will confirm the work has been completed. Challenge badges are more wide ranging in scope than the activity badges and again these can be worked on individually or as part of our programme. The staged badges are as the name implies, with 5 progressive stages, each one harder than the last. It is the level of skill which is measured. Finally the Chief Scouts Silver Award is the highest award that can be gained in Cubs. It is awarded upon the successful completion of the outdoor challenge, Two other challenges and a personal challenge.
