About Me and My Family

I play quite regularly on OK Bridge, E_Bridge, and BridgeBaseonline. On all these sites I am known as Lioncub.  Seemed a good idea at the time.

When I first started to play on OKBridge, quite often when I played with novices and low intermediates, I offered advice or gave a critique on a hand. This was welcomed by some, and it was suggested that we all meet for a session purely for learning. I agreed, and a regular Tuesday class was started. The numbers grew and from their comments it seemed that I had something to give back to a game which has given me so much enjoyment over the years. I often follow up these bidding lessons with a fuller explanation by e-mail. This seemed to fill a need for those who wanted a simpler explanation of the bidding. I leave it to you to judge for yourself.

I am not a professional teacher. I have no qualifications. I am not even an expert. Let me qualify this statement. An expert in bridge terms is defined as someone who has won one of the major Bridge tournaments and has represented their country. The nearest I ever came to winning a major was playing in the final of Crockfords. I never got close to playing for England, although I did play for London.

My views on bidding will be different from some of the experts. However, the experts disagree amongst themselves, so proving that there is no perfect bidding system, and no right or wrong way to bid!
