MULTI TWO DIAMONDS

Shows a hand either a weak 6 card major (6 to 9 points) OR a strong 6 card Minor ( 12 points plus)

Responses are

2♥ A hand that is weak and wants to play in 2 ♥ or 2♠
2♠ A hand that is strong enough to play in 3 ♥
2 NT a hand that is looking for game, and asking further information.

Responses by the opener after hearing 2NT from responder are:-

3♣ Shows maximum points with Hearts as the suit

3♦ Shows maximum points with Spades as the suit
3 ♥ Shows minimum points in the suit bid
3♠ Shows minimum points in the suit bid
3NT Shows a solid Minor

Remember to be disciplined with the quality of the suits. No worse than headed by KJ9. Also don’t have good defensive tricks.

There are many variations to the Multi. All versions will have the key feature of having Weak 2's in the majors and may also include a 2NT opener, or a strong 4/4/4/1 hand.

DEFENCE TO MULTI

It is important to have some form of defence, even though it does not come up often. Try to use a defence that you will easily remember.

A suggestion is:-

Double = Flat hand 12 to 15 points

2NT= Flat hand 16 to 19 points

Any other bid in a suit = natural
