Priory Lodge is situated high above the town of Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. Facing South and looking out to sea it has the best of the sunshine and sea views. Shielded from the north by the highest downs on the Island, Ventnor enjoys one of the best microclimates in the UK.

The warm climate allows us to grow many flowers and shrubs that do not survive on the mainland. Palms and Geraniums abound and Echiums grow to over 20 foot tall in just 2 years. The garden has many different aspects including old original Priory steps down the steep cliff to a Badger run at the bottom.

Wight Guide

Kids love Priory Lodge because there is so many places in the garden to hide and play.

Being on the side of a cliff (steep hill really) allows us to let the trees on the lower slop grow with there Tarzan vines (Wild Clematis).
Climbing down the old Priory steps to the badger run at the bottom looks more dangerous than it is. Once on the lower path they can explore or make a camp.

We hope you enjoy our site then visit some Island links.
Wight on Line gives a full coverage on the Island.
The County Press is the Island newspaper and an excellent site.

Trivia

Did you know...

The air is so pure in Ventnor the Victorians built a hospital here for people with bronchial and breathing problems.

Seeds carried from the Caribbean by the trade winds have embedded themselves into the walls of the Underciff area and germinate.

Ventnor was named the 'English Madeira' by the Victorians, and there are more 'old' pop stars living there than any other place in the British Isle.
