Josephs Life

by Jonathan Halls (aged 12)

Joseph was a special boy
He brought Jacob much joy
Jacob gave him a coat of colours
Which brought him many jealous brothers

Joseph’s brother looked after sheep
Sometimes Joseph was sent to peep
This made the brothers very mad
Even though he was only a lad

They threw him down, an old well
To the sandy bottom he fell
Joseph’s brothers wanted to sell him for money
Which didn’t seem very funny

Ishmeelite traders came along
Joseph’s journey was very long
To Potiphar Joseph was sold
Joseph’s heart was just like gold

Potiphar’s wife gave Joseph trouble
And her anger started to bubble
Joseph was sent to jail
Still Gods plan did not fail

In jail Joseph had a dream to solve
Still Gods plan did not dissolve
Pharaoh needed Joseph to interpret his dream
Truth was Joseph’s only theme

There was a famine coming
Pharaoh gave Joseph the job of ruling
Joseph gathered all the wheat
And sold it for hungry bellies to eat

To Egypt Joseph’s brothers came
To buy food for their families was their aim
Joseph put them in jail for a test
Why are we in here? they tried to guess

Joseph then told them his name
With astonished faces they came
Then he sent for his fathers household
“You’ll want for nothing” they were told.

If you're going through a test
Don’t forget God knows best
Joseph went through trial’s all the time
God helped him through just fine
