Derby and District Young Farmers has been around for over 70 years. It originally started as a Calf Club in 1935, becoming a Young Farmers Club in 1937. When it was first started, it was mainly farming youngsters who were members, but times have changed. Many members now are not from a farming background but they still feel as though they belong in Young Farmers. Derby YFC still holds its roots in farming and is very proud to be still going.
Derby have always gone from strength to strength, often representing Derbyshire at East Midlands Area finals and also at National level in all manner of events; stock judging, line dancing, flower arranging and even pantomime, to name a few. There are many new skills, which can be offered at Young Farmers. Derby YFC also has its own ploughing match, which has been running a long time and gets bigger every year.
It has always prided its self on being a club where not everyone is a farmer and it welcomes anyone and everyone between the ages of 10 and 26. We believe that with this much experience behind us we can guarantee that you will have a fantastic and rewarding time at Derby YFC.
