Monthly racing Competition/Order of Merit 2010

The competition is based on the main race meeting each month and you have to pick one horse each race at the designated meeting.

You are treated as having £10 win on each selection and the entrant with the largest profit (or smallest loss) is the winner.
 
The prizes will differ each month


Selections are needed for each race each day and can be sent either the night before or the morning of the designated meeting. NO NEED TO REGISTER YOU WANT TO PLAY, JUST SEND YOUR SELECTIONS.


The prizes for the March 2010 competition are below:

1st - A copy of the Timeform Horses to Follow for the 2010 flat season.
2nd - A mug with a racing theme.
3rd - A £5 free bet of your choice.

The rules are as follows:-

1. You need to send selections for each race of the designated meeting before the start of the first race each day and each is treated as having £10 win staked on it.

2. The winner of the competition is the entrant with the largest profit (or smallest loss if no-one is in profit) over the length of the competition.

3. If your selection does not run, it will transfer to the favourite for that race. If there are joint favourites, it will go to the one with the lowest racecard number.

PLEASE NOTE THAT SUBSEQUENT REPLACEMENTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED IF YOU FIND OUT THAT A SELECTION IS A NON RUNNER - Point 3 above will apply.

4. If you send selections for the wrong meeting they will all be treated as losers.

5. In the event of a tie for first place, there will be a Play off on the next day after the competition with selections needed for all races on a selected meeting and the entrant who does best that day will win.

The forthcoming monthly competitions are:

March 2010 - 16th to 19th Cheltenham Festival

April 2010 - 8th - 11th Aintree Festival 8th to 10th and Market Rasen 11th {If any of the Aintree meetings are abandoned, Sunday will consist of Market Rasen and Southwell}

{If any meeting is abandoned on the day, there will be no replacement meeting that day but two meetings on the final day}. If the meeting on the final day is abandoned the standings after the previous day will be the result

Send a selection for each race either the night before or on the day before the first race.  No need to register that you wish to enter.

Each month points will be awarded as follows after each competition and the person with the most points after the December 2010 competition will be the overall Champion and will get a book of their choice up to a value of £25. 

The runner up will get a copy of the Timeform 50 to follow for the following flat season and the third gets a years subscription to the Secret Service .

In the event of a tie the points will be split i.e. if there is a tie for 3rd place, the 3rd and 4th placed points will be added together (12 and 10 and then split so 11pts each will be awarded to each).
