5th Commandment
Every human being of whatever age is commanded to honor his parents! This command is not restricted to children. It is high regard of great respect given.
One of the great curses upon our people today is that too many parents do not strive to deserve or to retain the "honor" appropriately due them from their children!
Even if the parents may be breaking God's laws toward their children, even disreputable conduct does not give the children "license" or "permission" to dishonor their parents!
The word "honor" does not connote servile obedience! It does not carry with it the requirement for children, especially when grown up to adulthood, to blindly and docily be subject to the authority of their parents for their entire adult life.
Naturally at the point of marriage God intended that a new and separate family unit be established.
Yet, even though one is not now required to render servile obedience to every suggestion of his parents, he is under the lifelong obligation to show them honor!
Matt 19: 16-19And behold, one came and said to Him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?
And He said to him, Why do you call Me good? There is none good but one, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.
He said to Him, Which? Jesus said, You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not bear false witness,
honor your father and mother, and, you shall love your neighbor as yourself.
Eph 6:1-3Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right
Honor your father and mother (which is the first commandment with a promise),
so that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on the earth.
Acts 5:29 And Peter and the apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
Law and the Fifth Commandment
6th Commandment
The Hebrew word for"kill" is "rawtsach" which means murder.
Because of the bloody sins of the degenerate races inhabiting the lands of Palestine and its environs, God gave ancient Israel charge to utterly exterminate various of the tribal groups inhabiting these countries.
Because these evil people were guilty of human sacrifice, perversion of every kind, idolatry, and were the carriers of terrible and dreaded scourges and diseases, as a result of their utter disregard for the simplest principles of cleanliness, chastity, or obedience to the laws of God.
This is not a contradiction between this commandment and God's command to utterly destroy these peoples.
Matt 5:21-22You have heard that it was said to the ancients, "You shall not kill" --and, "Whoever shall kill shall be liable to the judgment."
But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be liable to the judgment. And whoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be liable to the sanhedrin; but whoever shall say, Fool! shall be liable to be thrown into the fire of hell.
I John 3:14-15We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brothers. He who does not love his brother abides in death.
Everyone hating his brother is a murderer. And you know that no murderer has everlasting life abiding in him.

7th Commandment
There is a tidal wave of desertions, abandonments, broken homes, and divorce has surged ever upward until there are more divorce decrees issued in some big cities than marriage licenses!
As in the case of every one of the Ten Commandments, Yashua showed the command against adultery reaches out to embrace every aspect of human sexuality- that it is a command which may be broken in the human heart, and not, alone, by the deed.
Matt 5:27-28You have heard that it was said to the ancients, "You shall not commit adultery."
But I say to you that whoever looks on a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
The seventh commandment is a clear command against lust.
But lust- the blatant, unbridled, hedonistic, and insatiable desire for sensual gratification which is a perverted self-centered, incoming feeling-is one of the most commonly expressed of all human appetites!
Thus, the command against adultery directly overlaps with the final commandment against coveting. Both of these overlap with the command against idolatry. Covetousness is idolatry
Col 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
The command against adultery was God's law to preserve marriage.
Alnighty God chose marriage as a microcosm of the kingdom of God!
God designed male and female, and then established laws for the sanctitiy and protection of that vital and foundational unit.

8th Commandment
Thievery, cheating, stealing, burglary, robbery, purse snatching, muggings-all are commonplace in our increasingly violence-prone society.
Reaching out the hand to take that which you have not earned and does not belong to you is a capital sin, punishable by death!
Human nature is vanity, jealousy, lust and greed! Greed, the insatiable desire for more of everything, is a driving force in the hearts and minds of many individuals.
The breaking of the commandment against stealing is one of the most common of all crimes-indulged in by millions. But it is not merely a "crime" against neighbor of society; it is sin and the penalty is death!
Law and the Eighth Commandment
9th Commandment
This is a broad all-encompasing commandment against the capital sin of lying! The commandment could read "Thou shalt not carry false tales, minimize, distort, exaggerate or speak anything but the truth.
Lying is part and parcel of our modern civilization.
(Yashua said "Thy word is truth")
John 17:17 Sanctify them through Your truth. Your Word is truth.
Num 23:19God is not a man that He should lie, neither the son of man that He should repent. Has He said, and shall He not do it? Or has He spoken, and shall He not make it good?
Joshua 21:45 Not a word failed from any good thing which Jehovah had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.
Ps 19:9 The fear of Jehovah is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of Jehovah are true and righteous altogether,
Ps 105:8 He has remembered His covenant forever, the Word which He commanded to a thousand generations;
Matt 24:35The heaven and the earth shall pass away, but My Words shall not pass away.
Heb 6:18 so that by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us,
I Kings 8:56Blessed be Jehovah, who has given rest to His people Israel, according to all that He promised. There has not failed one word of all His good promise which He promised by the hand of Moses His servant.
God's Word says it is impossible for God to lie!
A human being is only as good as his word. If a man's word is no good, the man is no good!
Prov 11:13; Prov 12:5-6; Prov 12:17-22; Prov 14:5; Prov 14:25; Prov 17:4; Prov 18:8; Prov 21:28
Many are shocked to look into the inspired Word of God and find they have a great deal of unlearning ahead of them. How surprised are thousands to find they have been lied to by religious teachers throughout their lives!
How utterly surprised many are when they discover that Bible teaches almost the exact opposite of what they have been taught in their earlier religious experience!
Eph 4:25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.
Eph 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
Eph 4:27 Neither give place to the devil.
Eph 4:28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth.
Eph 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
Eph 4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
Eph 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Rev 22:15 But outside are the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the fornicators, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and makes a lie.
Many people are habitual liars! Embellishing stories, exaggerations, minimiaztions, colorful additions which didn't really take place are the "salt and pepper" that flavor their conversation!
Many people are such habitual liars they do so unconsciously. Lying-"stretching the truth". or telling what people refer to as "little white lies" -is such a part of their very character they are oblivious to the fact they are doing it.
Law and the Ninth Commandment
10th Commandment
The tenth commandment is the commandment against human nature. Since of the very attributes of human nature is coveting- and incoming, ego centric, self- seeking desire to have- the tenth commandment strikes directly at the very heart of human carnality.
Coveting comes naturally to human beings as breathing. The profiteering, competitive motive of "keeping up with the Joneses" of "getting ahead", is what drives humankind.
Col 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
The tenth commandment brings the laws of God full circle. The tenth directly overlaps the first!
The all-encompasing lust for things, for material success, or for fame, becomes a god! Anything which comes between you and the true God is an idol. An idol can be anything of a material nature which demands your attention, absorbs your interest and occupies your mind!
Matt 19:17 And He said to him, Why do you call Me good? There is none good but one, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.
(Paul tells us..)
Rom 7:12So indeed the Law is holy, and the commandment is holy and just and good.
I John 3:22And whatever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.
I John 3:24And he who keeps His commandment dwells in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit which He gave to us.
I John 5:2-3 By this we know that we love the children of God, whenever we love God and keep His commandments.
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments, and His commandments are not burdensome.
While we might experience the automatic blessings that come with obedience, we can never, earn salvation. But God's free, loving grace; His forgiveness for past sins, does not remove from us the obligation to quit sinning- meaning quit breaking the ten commandments, and start keeping them!
