We have seen evidence of animals, both prey & preditor, using this hole for protection from the elements. It seems preditors use it in the winter and resident mule deer use it in the summer to escape the intense heat. Most mule deer migrate to cooler wetter elevations for the summer. However a small number seem to be year around residents. ![]() Buzz is all ways suspicious of this place. I am sure his nose tells him much more then I can see. ![]() You go first! ![]() Buzz keeps an eye on the exit ![]() The tunnel goes no where. Who ever dug this worked very hard for nothing. There is a story about a teenager that fired his 22 cal. rifel into the opening only to have the ricochetting bullet hit him as it boomaranged out the opening. I believe he survived but either way he won't do that again! ![]() Buzz has one rule for the Hole, last in first out! ![]() This day when exiting the Hole a banded pidgeon was waiting for us on a nearby rock ![]() Seven mule deer were watching nerviously from the ridge above the enterance. ![]()
Dramatically, not far above was a redtail hawk waiting for a chance at pidgeon pie! |
