2 Litre OHC Injection conversion.

If you have an OHC powered car this is the most sensible and cost effective way to go.
Engines come from Sierra or Granada, both very cheap and easy to get hold of.
Fuel requirements can be taken care of with a tank and pump from a 2.8i and the wiring is very simple.
A budget swap could be done for less than £500
and a proper job, re-built engine etc could be done for around a grand.
Advantages include safe un-leaded use, improved fuel consumption, improved power and better cold start/idle.

2 Litre DOHC 8 valve twin cam & MT75 gearbox

In our opinion, the best road engine and gearbox available at this moment in time

The reason for this is simple 130+ BHP and over 140 LB FT at less than 3,000 revs.
One of these will give a 2.8i some serious competition.
It is run by a fully mapped intergrated management system with crank senser triggered ignition.
It simply does not get any better.

Yes they have had some bad press but when you get to the truth,
it's bad maintenance and or lack of knowledge that causes the problems.
It's not a cheap instalation if you do the timing chain components for peace of mind but it will be
almost 100% reliable and it will go like F*** with the right diff ratio.
The MT75 gearbox which is fitted to these engines is also a vast step forward.
Just my opinion but it looks to me like it might be from the Getrag stable?
The tunnel and prop need to be modified but this is a minor inconvenience when you look at the advantages.
Up front it looks expensive but if you use the car as everyday transport, it will pay you back in a matter of months and you will have the peace of mind knowing that when you turn the key, it's going to go, and I mean, REALLY GO!

2.9 Litre V6 Engine conversion.

This is our project car, a completely original 2.8 injection.
Whilst Classic Ford were building 'Project 28 Injecter'
We were busy fitting a 2.9 Granada engine in our own
'Project 29 Injecter'

Now very cheap and easy to get as Granada's are falling by the way-side due to
gearbox failure or tin worm.
The 2.9 EFI is dimensionally the same as the 2.8 so no problems there.
Wiring is simple and the 2.8i fuel tank and pump work fine. Altogether a much better idea than
having 2.8 heads converted to un-leaded which is not 100% reliable.
It's run by the same bomb proof EECIV management system as the OHC which is essentially very reliable. Things like gaskets can be expensive but again, it's worth spending the money up front
for big pay back in terms of reliability.
Although the BHP is theoretically lower than the 2.8, the torque is higher and in the right place so
it will perform much better. Our engine already has a slightly more interesting cam and higher
compression giving it about 180 bhp.
The electronic system is much more refined than the old mechanical K-jet and will respond well
to minor tweeks like better air filters as you can see.
If you get lucky and find a good clean engine you could do this for less than £500.
If you do some engine work and maybe use the Sierra / Granada Twin Cam radiator which is a big improvement on the totally inadequate Capri item, budget on about £1000.
Again, money spent wisely now will produce a faster and more reliable car for the future.

Got a Mk1? Then you need something like this.
To run fuel injection with a tank that is hard to modify,
the swirl pot is the answer.
This is the unit from the 24V Cosworth which is supplied
by a Facet Red top lift pump.
The unit has a submerged injection pump which is compatible
with all EECIV injection systems.
Cost including the pump is about £200

Below is a unit we made to run a 4.6 Rover engine
fitted in a P6. We shipped this one to Norway.

Trivia

Did you know...
The average family car could run for a year on the fuel a Formula 1 car uses in a single race?

When Frank Whittle invented the jet engine, the air force weren't interested - they said it could never replace the piston engine in aircraft.
