eet Hixie Hound.. Hixie is a Hamiltonstövare and was bred by Pam of Meillion Hamiltonstövares, and we would like to say a HUGE thank you for letting this very special girl come and join our family. The Hamiltonstövare (Hamilton Hound) is named after the founder of the Swedish Kennel Club, Count A.P. Hamilton, who developed the breed by crossing German hounds (the Hanoverian Hound, the Hölsteiner Hound, etc.) with the English Foxhound. Although it was recognized as a breed in 1921, its history goes back to the 16th century.
The Hamiltonstövare is a favoured hunting dog in Sweden, and hunts on its own, not in packs, finding and flushing game and baying to alert the hunter. Since 1968, a few have been imported into Britain, and have a strong following now, with breed classes at Championship level. I first fell in love with this breed when my friend, Michelle, from Shulune Dalmatians introduced me to 5 of them at a Championship show several years ago now. We are looking forward to having lots of fun with Hixie, she is an absolutely stunning girl!
Hixie made her show debut in April at the Hound Association of Scotland show, Qualifying for Crufts 2009 at her very first show!! :)

Hixie and Callum are looking forward to their Junior Handling days out together! Callum is soooo happy to have Hixie, the two have really bonded very well!
Hixie is from fantastic lines. Her sire is Dutch Ch Hjamsereds Sven of Meillion JW '03 W '04 (Imp Sweden) and her dam is Dutch and World Ch Tedandi Florence Nightingale of Meillion, see below ....
