Grove Again Asks For Accounting New city council member Gina Grove again asked for additional financial doucmentation when the Bartlett City Council met June 22. She had asked for more information at a previous meeting, and made a written request on June 5 for a copy of reconciled bank statements. She stated she had not received them and felt that some of the information presented at the June 22 meeting was not accurate. The matter was tabled. In other action, the Council hired Johnny Walker as utility worker and Kelly Caldwell as co-manager of the swimming pool. James Thomas was appointed to the board of commissioners of the Bartlett Housing Authority. Purchase of radio equipment for the police department was tabled.
The Bartlett ISD Board of Trustees voted to increase lunch prices when they met June 22. Lunch prices for K-6 will go up from $1.50 to $1.75; 7-12 from $2.00 to $2.25; and adults $2.75 to $3.00. Heinsohn Family Reunion July 19 The reunion for the descendants of Diedrich & Anna Marie Rodefeld Heinson will be held at the VFW Hall in La Grange on Sunday July 19. Registration begins at 10:00 AM. Each family is asked to bring food for the meal which begins at noon. Coffee, tea, and utensils are provided. We encourage you to bring your old photos with you. Confirmation Class Received At Methodist Church Three are youth were confirmed on May 31 at the First United Methodist Church. Coby Graves was baptized and confirmed; Beth Danna and Colbey Ortiz were confirmed. After making a public profession of faith and taking membership vows, the youth were presented with a Bible, certificate, and candle. After the service, children & youth released red balloons in honor of the special day.
Christopher Blake of Bartlett turned 10 years of age on June 2. He celebrated by attending the movies and going out to eat with friends in Taylor. On Sunday June 7 family and friends gathered at his home for his chosen meal of spaghetti, (lots of) garlic bread, and birthday cake. Helping Christopher celebrate were Aunt Gayle Bielss; his grandmother, Pat Calkins of Jarrell and his great-grandmother Audrey Blake of Bartlett. Also, Terri & Jim Crum, Christopher Crum, Zoe & Shawn Farmer, David Bielss & Teagen, all of Holland; Juli Frische of Killeen; Erin & Rey Perez of San Antonio, K C and Kamron Calkins of Jarrell, Brandi Blake of Temple, Jeni Smith & sons Caleb & Matthew, Sharon Randig, Collin Blake & Jackson. Christopher Blake will be a Fifth Grader at Bartlett Elementary in the Fall.
