ACB Nutrition - Nutritional Therapy

A Nutritional Therapy consultation usually follows the completion of a questionnaire and a diet diary, which gives me details of your symptoms, current medical conditions and the types of food you are eating. This enables me to carry out some initial assessments prior to your appointment including your dietary, vitamin and mineral deficiencies

The science of Nutritional Therapy is the science of nourishing the body with the six major classes of nutrients:

  • Carbohydrates
  • Fats
  • Proteins
  • Minerals
  • Vitamins
  • Water

All these aspects are considered during a treatment

The initial appointment lasts an hour during which further information is gathered to enable me to make appropriate dietary suggestions and possibly a supplement programme. The details are clearly written out for you and handouts are given as necessary. A follow up appointment is arranged a month later, this usually takes half an hour and further appointments are arranged as necessary.

My general philosophy is to give simple straight forward dietary advice and only to use supplements if they are indicated. In some cases only two appointments are necessary to gain considerable health benefits, however some cases are more complex and further appointments and functional testing may be required. This would be discussed during a second or subsequent appointment.

The use of functional testing is sometimes necessary to further explore health issues, to discover at a biochemical level what is going wrong and to further refine a treatment protocol.
