Welcome to the shack of G3VCQ!
I first became interested in Ham radio around 1966 these days I like playing with antenna's for HF and Im a keen DX chaser when I have the time! Having spent 20 years with the Royal Navy my first call sign was ZB0J followed by ZB2IP and my first UK call was G0MGW in 1989. When my Dad G3VCQ - (Doug) became a silent key in January 2000 I requested his callsign and relinquished G0MGW. Other calls are J38CW, 9H3WC and 5B/G3VCQ and very often as CT/G3VCQ - CT7 Call requested.

Rigs here include a Yaesu FT2000, a Yaesu FT 857 and a Kenwood TS930s. Antenna's go from a Trap dipoles, mono band dipoles, also I have a TH3 (3 el tri-band yagi) at about 35 feet. Two linears are available, SPE Expert 1K-FA fully automatic amp and an old KW FL2000B Linear sits warm in the shack and ready for when that all important DX shows up! Im around from time to time on 70cm and 2m FM/SSB with my FT857 or the old Trio TR9000/IC207 and 14el yagi but probably not as active as I am on HF. Mobile I use the new Kenwood TMD700e with the GPS to work APRS whilst Im on my travels!
My work is in IP Voice and Data Networks and takes me all over the world and of course the UK so mobile operating on 80-10m is a mode you may well find me working! When mobile the rig is the Yaesu FT857 with 100watts and a variety of home brew antenna's and you will very often find me activating WAB squares or IOTA's where ever I might be!
If I hav'nt already worked you on the bands - I look forward to doing so 73 Colin
