BLUES JAM NIGHT! Come and Jam with the house band, all abilities welcome. PA and Backline provided.
What is it? Riffs Blues Jam is hosted by the house blues band and is a opportunity for you to come down and play the blues on the legendary stage at Riffs – if you impress us enough it might lead to a booking for your band!
How does it work? The house band will provide and set up the equipment and then at around 9.00pm play a couple of songs to get started. If you want to play simply make yourself known to the house band, tell them what you play and they will add you to the list of musicians. The night ends at 11.00pm so space for playing is limited and is allocated on a purely first come first served basis. If you turn up at 10.30pm there is no guarantee that you will be able to play so please get there in good time! How much time you get to play for obviously depends on numbers on the night to ensure that everybody who wants to gets a go.
What songs do you know? It’s the Blues! The house band do have a wide repertoire of standard blues tunes ranging from Muddy Waters to Joe Bonamassa, but at the end of the day as long as you can get through a 12 bar progression then beautiful music can be made.
What do I need to bring? All the backline will be provided. Singers need themselves, drummers need drum sticks and guitar & bass players need an instrument that's in tune – a house guitar & bass will also be on hand.
Please don't bring racks, pedals and amps as this takes away valuable playing time on the night. All this will be provided and is pro quality.
That's it – see you there........................... |

Earth & Space Rock @ Riffs Bar with: Moon Medicine + Redunification + Joe Hallock An eclectic and intimate dose of the finest festival-spirited music by "JB's Special Sauce"
Moon Medicine Fronted by guitar virtuoso and singer Colin Radbourne, and a backline driven by Lee Moulding and Jon Buckett in their guise as prog rock power station. They mix folk, rock and classical influences to create a 60's esque sound with a big dollop of punk attitude. Here's what Barrie Hudson has to say about them. "Moon Medicine inject a breath of fresh air into hard edged rock. Like Robert Forster of the Go Betweens, Colin Radbourne is a man composed of straight edges and angles which all fall into beautiful order when there is a guitar in his hand". http://www.matchboxrecordings.co.uk/artists/moonmedicine.htm
Redunification Lunar Dunes' Post Punk improv off shoot with Hami of Transglobal Underground and Ian Blackaby providing the rhythm section for a floating pool of guest musicians including guitarist Seb Hunter, Jemma Freeman and Larry Whelan. A note from JB's Special Sauce : This rhythm section is galactically good, really not to be missed. http://www.transglobalunderground.net/
Joe Hallock You don't get more earthy than the Appalacian Mountains, or more earthy than Joe Hallock. On his debut UK tour, this globetrotting songwriter effortlessly delivers timeless charm with a voice like honey and the sound of generations of North Carolinan mountain music. |

The STEVE GRIMMETT BAND + WHICH WAY UP + DODGING THE BULLETT British Heavy Metal at it’s Best!
Steve Grimmett has a history that is nothing short of incredible, having what is widely regarded as one of the most powerful and original voices in rock & metal. As vocalist with the legendary Grim Reaper Steve accomplished major success during the 80’s with three highly acclaimed studio albums, along with single releases, MTV airplay, & extensive touring in the States. Grim Reaper videos can often still be seen on some of the major music channels. After Grim Reaper Steve spent a brief period with Onslaught and again enjoyed commercial success, including a single that charted in the UK. More recently Steve's success came in the form of Lionsheart, a powerful melodic metal band whose debut album reached number one in the mainstream Japanese chart.
In early 2006 Steve assembled a touring band with the intention of playing a full Grim Reaper set at a series of European metal festivals & venues. The band members that Steve recruited were guitarist Ian Nash who had previously worked with Steve in Lionsheart & bassist Rich Walker who had played with Ian in Seven Deadly Sins. Drummer Pete Newdeck, who has played with Paul Dianno’s Killers, completed the band line-up.
Steve & the boys’ live performances were incredibly well received that year & they had an awesome time rocking out across Europe together, so much so, that they began to consider how this project could progress & grow. It was during this period that the idea of forming a brand new band was conceived, a band that would combine all of the best elements of Grim Reaper & Lionsheart with a modern metal edge, utilising Ian’s melodic yet shredding guitar, Pete & Rich’s heart pounding rhythm section & of course Steve’s awesome vocal power. On their return to the UK the boys began writing & recording demos for a brand new album & The Steve Grimmett Band was born.
The songs for the new album were completed in early 2007. Pink Cream 69’s bassist & melodicrock.com’s ‘Producer of the year 2005’ Dennis Ward was secured to handle mixing & mastering duties. Pete Newdeck would take care of production & in February 2007 Steve & Pete travelled to Germany to lay down the vocals. The album, now entitled ‘Personal Crisis’ also features appearances by Eric Ragno (Jeff Scott Soto) ..s & Carsten Lizard Schulz (Evidence One) singing backing vocals.
This is where it has all come together & will remain, this is The Steve Grimmett Band. SEE YOU IN HELL !!! http://www.myspace.com/thestevegrimmettbandgrimreaper |

FaBluSis Promotions Presents: SCOTT McKEON plus support FRY

Since picking up his first guitar at the age of four, Scott McKeon has devoted himself to the mastery of his craft and can now be considered to be one of the most gifted and naturally talented guitarist, singer/songwriters emerging on the UK blues rock scene. He plays with the technical expertise and passion that is the envy of musicians many years his senior.

Still just 20 years old, Scott has already graced the stage of the legendary Antones (where he has an open invitation to return), as well as sharing performance space with Buddy Guy, Jimmie Vaughan, Sonny Landreth, Joe Bonamassa and the North Mississippi Allstars.

Riff's Rock, Rhythm & Blues Extravaganza! featuring Sam Kelly’s Station House, Blue Radio, Fry Band, Three Legged Dog, FaBluSis!
5 Superb Bands - 1 Day - Sat 4th July 2009
Advance ticket sales: http://www.wegottickets.com/evenue/590
Sam Kelly The band started out as the ‘house band’ playing at Bob’s Goodtime Blues at the Station Tavern, London W10 in the mid 90’s. A regularly Sunday lunchtime spot turned into a long-term residency at the venue and the ‘house band’ simply became ‘Station House’. The band was billed as a ‘Blues-Soul fusion featuring the classy vocals of Root Jackson and 1999’s Blues Drummer of the Year, Sam Kelly’
A versatile, creative, energetic player, Sam can regularly be seen drumming with Geoff Achison, Papa George Band, Giles Hedley & The Aviators, Empire State, The UK Funk Allstars and Errol Linton Blues Vibe, to name but a few….. But Sam’s main passion is his own band, Station House.
Sam’s vast experience includes playing with Gary Moore, Stan Webb, Sista Monica, Eddie Floyd, Big Joe Duskin, Johnny Mars, Fred James, Sonny Black, Zoot Money and more! He was the drummer on the Gordon Haskell hit “How Wonderful You Are”. Sam recently worked with Gary Moore, playing on his new album 'Bad For You Baby' (released in 2008) and toured with him in Germany. He’s also played theatre engagements including the West End Production of 125th Street (2002-2003) The Blues Brothers 1997 UK Tour, Ain't Misbehavin, Blues In The Night, All Or Nothing At All and has TV & film credits: That’s Life, Not the Nine O’clock News and Ebony. Sam was the drums music teacher for the UK film ‘Swing’..
Sam brings the unique rhythm and drive to Station House, playing as people often say ‘lead drums.’
Blue Radio Blue Radio are a new young blues band from Chippenham, Wiltshire headed by singer / guitarist Jarryd Hayward. They play a mixture of their own catchy bluesy material and authentic blues covers by artists such as Robert Johnson and Eric Clapton. Do not miss seeing Blue Radio on a small stage while you can. Trust me, these guys will be huge very soon...........!
The Fry Band FRY: Are a Blues/Rock Trio Based in the UK. They have been Gigging since 2006 and during this time have headlined many music venues and have been lucky enough to share the stage with some internationally acclaimed artists such as Carvin Jones, Marcus Malone & Aynsley Lister.
They write and Perform Original Material as well as some Classic Covers from such artists as Cream, Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Bonamassa, John Mayer & More. They are currently very busy writing Material for their new EP which should be recorded and available for release later this year. http://www.myspace.com/frybanduk
Three Legged Dog Arising, phoenix-esque, from the ashes of more bands than you can shake an ashey stick at, the Three Legged Dog is a welcome return to the basic essentials of raw blues, where soul, feel and simple bo**ox are far more important than all the dick-swinging and pretentious crap that seems to be a pre-requisite for most bands these days.
The 'Dog' are simple, powerful and overall bluesy – come down and give the dog a stroke. http://www.myspace.com/unleashthemojo
