The Prestatyn Churchyard Appeal Fund was originally set up a few years ago in order to preserve and maintain the grounds of the Churchyard. This includes the grassed areas around the memorial stones and the perimeter wall and pathways. The pathway through the Churchyard is regularly used by parishioners and visitors alike and by members of the public either going to visit the Church and Churchyard or just passing by, and it is comforting to know that this small corner of Prestatyn will be preserved for all time. This is due in the main to the extreme generosity of contributors and some grants and ensures that the ongoing preservation of the Churchyard is a lasting and growing memorial to those loved ones who are no longer with us and is a restful and tranquil place.
Monies raised from donations have contributed towards the costs of maintaining the grassed areas of the Churchyard to a high standard. In 2010 work continued on repairs to the churchyard wall which was mainly repointing but underpinning was required to one section of the wall which was in danger of collapse. Work will continue on making safe the walls in 2011 together with grass cutting and weeding in accordance with Health and Safety Regulations.
The Churchyard Appeal Fund is a restricted fund and is self managing; funded in the main from donations/grants. The monies contained with the Fund can only be used for maintaining the grounds and cannot be used for anything else.
Each year a new Appeal Fund is launched by sending out letters to the next of kin of their loved ones whose final resting place is within the Churchyard. The Appeal fund is also open to parishioners of both Christ Church and its sister Church - the Church of the Holy Spirit, together with those members of the public who wish to contribute to the Fund.
For further information please contact the Appeal Fund Secretary - Sue Christou (tel. no. 01745 853011) The Church is now a registered charity - name Prestatyn Parochial Church Council - Charity No. 1141717
