Serving the very large residential area in the West End of Prestatyn is The Church of the Holy Spirit [CHS]. This was consecrated on 28 January 1967, and is of a modern design that combines a church and a hall complete with integral kitchen facilities, with a folding screen to separate the two sections. The church seats about 90 persons normally, but with the screen open this can be increased to about 200. Much of the original furnishing for the church was acquired from a former church in Llandewi. The sanctuary window contains a striking example of modern stained glass. In 1987 the sanctuary was modernised and re-furnished. The altar rails were re-positioned at a more convenient and comfortable height. A Rodgers C505 digital organ was provided. More recently new front entrance doors were fitted in 2002, and the whole building has been re-glazed with new uPVC units, and the exterior repaired and re-painted. Late in 2006 the clock tower was increased in height by roughly two metres, and the (2003) clock was turned through 90 degrees so as to be visible from the main road. In the Spring of 2008 new accessible toilet facilities were installed, and the entrance and hall floor was re-laid. At that time the hall received a welcome coat of fresh paint. Further work planned includes a new kitchen, the restoration of the Sanctuary floor and some further re-decoration and re-ordering. In 2005 the Vicar created two District Church Councils from the existing Parochial Church Council. Each DCC has responsibility for the ongoing care and maintenance of the buildings, and to organise a busy social life with frequent activities. Members of the CHS DCC have entered into this with great enthusiasm and with God's help much is being achieved. In recent years the CHS congregation has been significantly smaller in number than that of the Parish Church; however, a serious effort is being made to welcome new members into the family of the Church, and a very warm welcome is extended to all who would join us.
