Our Next Meeting

Our February meeting takes place at Hamilton Street Methodist Church, Chester and is entitled, "Forming a Choir from Scratch to Four Parts."  CNEWOCA Vice-Chairman, John Evans has done it and will advise how he succeeded.  A very warm welcome to one and all.

Chester and North East Wales Organists' & Choirmasters' Association [CNEWOCA] was formed in March 1998 and we now have over 100 members.  We usually meet at 7.30pm on the last Monday of each month (except in August when we take a well-earned break!) As you would expect we find our way to a different venue for each meeting and on this site you will find our most recent monthly Newsletter which gives full details, together with various other news and views of our members.

Though we say it ourselves, CNEWOCA membership comes at a bargain price! Membership is based on "per household" so persons living at the same address may join for the same price as an individual member - Ten [GB]Pounds per annum. This cost (which has not increased in the ten years the Association has been established) includes membership of the Incorporated Association of Organists (IAO) and members receive our monthly Newsletter. To join please contact our Membership Secretary.

We are extremely blessed to have two major Cathedral Organs in our area; in Chester Cathedral and  St Asaph Cathedral. Both of these venues present a regular series of Organ Recitals, and each Thursday following the 1.10pm recital many CNEWOCA members are to be found in the Chester Cathedral refectory. As well as these instruments we have many wonderful and interesting organs in our local churches. Several of our members are also frequent visitors to Birmingham Town Hall and elsewhere. Our Association is the perfect place to make new friends and to share our enthusiasm for the King of Instruments. Everyone is welcome to "have a go" at our "open console" sessions and all sorts of musical tastes are catered for, from the music of the majestic cathedral organ, through digital electronics, to the Mighty WurliTzer!

So why not join us? For more information please contact Ray Harper our Publicity Officer.
