MIDDLETON MOOR   The Temminck's Stint still present on May 19th usually viewed from the hide. It was last seen at 2.00.p.m. when it flew off North. Also present on May 19th were 7 Ringed Plovers and 10 Dunlin as well as 2 Grey Lag Geese, 8 Shelduck, 2 Gadwall, 6 Tufted Duck and 2 Oystercatchers.
CARSINGTON WATER   A colour ringed Osprey was actually photographed on the nest platform on 18/19/20th May. On May 20th 5 Turnstones and 2 Sanderling on Sailing Club Island and an ad. Kittiwake flew through.
OGSTON RESERVOIR   An Osprey present from 15.15-16.10. hrs on May 19th. A first summer Kittiwake flew through at 12.10.p.m. with a Whimbrel and a Grey Plover through at 13.25 hrs.
DERWENT MEADOWS DWT RESERVE   A Red Kite flew North on May 20th.
ROSLISTON   A Quail heard calling on May 20th.
CARR VALE DWT RESERVE   A claim of a Nightingale seen and heard here on 19th May will need to be backed up by a full description etc.
AMBASTON GRAVEL PITS   On May 20th 2 Little Grebes, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Cormorant, 3 Shelduck, 2 Gadwall, 2 Tufted Duck, 11 Lesser Black Backed Gulls flew North, 2 Common Terns, 2 Stock Doves, c25 Swifts, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, c15 sand Martins, c20 Swallows, c15 House Martins and 6 singing Reed Warblers.
ASTON-ON-TRENT GRAVEL PITS   On May 20th 14 Great Crested Grebes, 11 Cormorant, 6 Grey Herons, 6 Grey Lag Geese, 8 Shelduck, 34 Gadwall, 4 Shoveler, 6 Tufted Duck, 1 Common Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 2 Stock Doves, c80 Swifts, 1 Green Woodpecker, c30 Sand Martins, c20 Swallows and 11 singing Reed Warblers.

MIDDLETON MOOR   A Temmincks Stint was found here late morning-May 18th-by Dave Wragg and Mark Pass.  This is the first county record since 2009 when 2 were found at Pleasley Colliery and the 24th for the county. Earlier Dave Wragg had 5 summer plumage Curlew Sandpipers which flew off before 08.00a.m. Also here on May 18th, 16 Ringed Plover, 2 Sanderling and a few Dunlin.
WILLINGTON GRAVEL PITS   2 Ruff from Platform 4 on May 18th, On May 16th a Wood Sandpiper, a Greenshank and a White Wagtail.
CARSINGTON WATER   2 Bar Tailed Godwits, 2 Whimbrel and 2 Common Scoter on May 17th.
AMBASTON GRAVEL PITS   3 Shelduck and 2 Wheatears which included a female Greenland bird on May 16th.
ELVASTON CASTLE COUNTRY PARK   The second Harris Hawk-a jessed bird-seen here in the last month-on May 16th along with a Sparrowhawk and 3 Common Buzzards.

WILLINGTON GRAVEL PITS   A Red Kite flew SW about 9.00 a.m. on 9th May. Still 10 Common Terns, a Wheatear and 2 singing Cettis Warblers here on 9th May. On 12th May 2  first summer Mediterranean Gulls flew through early morning calling vociferously. A Dunlin on 13th May. For people intending to visit this site please be aware that currently gypsies have managed to access the lane at the village end. It may be wise to park elsewhere probably near the Church until they have been escorted, or moved on, from the site.
CARR VALE DWT RESERVE   A Red Kite flew through on 9/13th May with an ad. Kittiwake on 11th May
ELVASTON CASTLE COUNTRY PARK  The "regular" Harris Hawk still present on 10th May.
TOTLEY MOSS   5 Dotterel on 11th May.
AMBASTON GRTAVEL PITS   STILL 3 Wheatears on 12th  May
ASTON-ON-TRENT GRAVEL PITS   On 12th May 7 Great Crested Grebes, 18 Cormorant, 3 Grey Herons, 5 Shelduck, 22 Gadwall, 48 Tufted Duck, 2 Sedge Warblers and 5 Reed Warblers.
PADLEY GORGE   On 13th May a Tawny Owl flew across the gorge at 08.50 a.m., 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers, 3 Tree Pipits, 2 Grey Wagtails, a Dipper, 1 Stonechat, 7 Pied Flycatchers, 3 Tree Creepers and 4 Nuthatch. No sign of any Redstarts or Wood Warblers.
CUTTHROAT BRIDGE   On 13th May a Whinchat, 3 Stonechats and up to 7 Ring Ouzels.
RED KITES   Single birds over Harewood Moor on 11th May, Kedleston Park on 11th May and Glossop on 14th May, and over Belper on 13th May with 2 on 14th May.
LONG EATON GRAVEL PITS   3 Little Grebes, 13 Great Crested Grebes, 4 Cormorants, 1 Grey Heron, 50 Mute Swans, 10 Grey Lag Geese included a family of 4 small goslings, 5 Gadwall, 24 Tufted Duck, 1 Sparrowhawk, 4 Common Gulls-all imm. flew North, 37 Common Terns, c100 Swifts, c60 Sand Martins, c20 House Martins and a Spotted Flycatcher all on 15th May.
WILNE LANE. SAWLEY    2 Oystercatchers and a Redshank on floodwater on 15th May.
CHURCH WILNE RESERVOIR   9 Great Crested Grebes, 3 Tufted Duck, c60 Swifts and c60 House Martins on 15th May.

RED RUMPED SWALLOW   One was found hawking insects over the Children's Play area at Staunton Harold Reservoir at 8.30.a.m. this morning-May 8th-by Tony Davison. Unfortunately it did not stay around allowing only 3 other lucky observers' views before it seemed to fly off North at about 8.45 a.m. It, or another, was discovered at Swarkestone Lakes at about 11.30.a.m. by an unknown observer hawking insects over the water at the Western End of the lakes but again soon moved on. This is the 8th county record and the third in the last 3 years.
CARSINGTON WATER   An Osprey flew through between 10.30-10.35 a.m. on May 8th and left to the North. Also here 2 Bar Tailed Godwits on Sailing Club Island. The adult Great Northern Diver having moulted into full summer plumage was last seen at about 06 15.a.m. on 4th May. At least 1 Bar Tailed Godwit has been present here since May 2nd and was joined by 2 Whimbrel on May 4/5th. On May 3rd at least 25 Arctic Tern and a Black Tern moved through early morning on May 3rd.On May 3rd 31 Great Crested Grebes, 9 Cormorants, 10 Barnacle Geese, 25 Tufted Duck, 2 Common Buzzards, 40 Common Gulls, c135 Swifts, c210 Swallows, c50 House Martins and a Willow Tit also present. Similar numbers on May 6th but also a Pink Footed Goose, a Common Sandpiper and 5 Yellow Wagtails
THE SANCTUARY, PRIDE PARK   The male Ring Ouzel still present on May 4th with a male Whinchat on May 8th.
MIDDLETON MOOR   A Grey Plover and a Sanderling on May 2nd with a Turnstone on May 4/6th and another Sanderling on May 7th.
AMBASTON GRAVEL PITS   2 cream crown Marsh Harriers on May 2nd with 1 flying off towards Borrowash and the other towards Shardlow after hunting over the reed beds. On May 7th 1 Little Grebe, 2 Great Crested Grebes, 2 Cormorants, 3 Little Egrets flew SW, 2 Shoveler, 10 Tufted Duck, 2 Common Terns, c55 Sand Martins, c85 Swallows and a male Wheatear.
LONG EATON GRAVEL PITS   On May 7th 2 first summer Little Gulls, c20 Arctic Terns and a Godwit which was variously reported as either a Black Tailed or a Bar Tailed. On May 8th 6 Little Grebes, 12 Great Crested Grebes,, 4 Cormorants,3 Grey Herons, 20 Mute Swans, 4 Grey Lag Geese, a pair of Shelducks with 2 small young-the earliest  ever breeding record for the county, 7 Gadwall, 40 Tufted Duck, 1 Ruff-a male, 1 Whimbrel heard flying through, 40 Common Tern son the Windsurfing Pit, 3 Lesser Whitethroats and 3 Garden Warblers.
ST CHADS WATER    6 Common Terns back on the rafts on May 8th.
WILLINGTON GBRAVEL PITS   On May 2nd 2 Little Grebes, 4 Great Crested Grebes, 2 Cormorants, 3Little Egrets, 2 Grey Herons, 4 Grey Lag Geese, 1 Gadwall, 1 Shoveler, 2 Pochard, 23 Tufted Duck, 1 Sparrowhawk, 2 Common Buzzards, 1 Kestrel, 1 Whimbrel, 9 Common Terns, 1 Cuckoo, c50 Swifts, c40 Sand Martins, c100 Swallows, c60 House Martins, 1 Whinchat-male, 4+ Wheatears and  2 Cettis Warblers. Late afternoon there were 2 Hobbies. On May 6th a Hobby, 2 Dunlin flew through, 9 Common Terns, 3 Cuckoos, 1 Wheatear and 2 Cettis Warblers. A drake Garganey on May 7/8th with 2 Egyptian Geese on May 8th.
