I am an active member of Deeside Sub-Aqua Club BSAC 906. I dive every weekend possible & on one or two evenings during the summer, either on the East Coast or The Moray Firth. I also enjoy a few club trips a year.In 1999 I did 93 dives where I dived, The Clyde, The Sound of Mull, Eigg, Muck, Rhum, Oigh-sgeir, Loch Nevis, Loch Hourn, Skye, Tenerife, The Florida Keys & The Red Sea. My most memorable dive of 1999 was one of many dives on the wreck of The San Tiburcio in The Moray Firth. A 42min dive with a max depth of 41m in the best visibility I have seen here, with mirror like seas on the 20 mile round trip where we saw seals, porpoises & dolphins.

Year 2000 was a terrific year for diving with the arrival of a new boat, some new dive sites & a lot of old favourites, in fact I had very few poor dives in 2000, & with the removal of Selective Availability on the GPS I never missed one wreck. I only managed 72 dives in 2000 which saw me dive either the East Coast or The Moray Firth most weekends with longer trips to, The Farne Islands, The Sound of Mull, Coll, Scapa Flow, The Garvellachs & two trips to Tenerife. My most memorable dive in 2000 was a 91min dive with a max depth of 16m on the wreck of The Tabarka, one of the blockships at the entrance to Scapa Flow.

2001 saw much of my local diving curtailed as work prevented me from diving evenings, also I opted to dive more further a field & remote sites at weekends, this meant I only managed 68 dives, but the quality most of these dives provided, were outstanding. In 2001 I dived the usual local stuff in the Moray Firth & off the East Coast with the addition of some new sites to me, The Sound of Mull, Coll, Canna, Lewis, St Kilda, The Firth of Forth, Seil Island, Gran Canaria & Tenerife. The most memorable dive of 2001 was undoubtedly a dive on the wreck of a submarine which due to a sensistive nature I prefer not to name. We had mirror calm seas, gorgeous sunshine & 12m visibility, with the sunlight filtering down onto the wreck at 54m, it required only the occasional use of my torch, I had to keep reminding myself we were diving off the Coast of Scotland & not some exotic destination.

2002 again saw work interfering with my evening dives again & I only managed 70 dives. Early in the year I finally took the plunge & bought an Aquazepp DPV which I had deliberated about for quite a while, it has proved to be great fun as well as being an invaluable tool & I can thoroughly recommend owning one. I tended this year to dive more of the deeper local wrecks off the East coast & the Moray Firth although I still managed to dive The Sound of Mull, Coll, The Firth of Forth, the Lower Clyde, the Shetland Isles, the Orkney Isles twice, Donegal & Rathlin in Ireland with only one warm water trip to Cyprus. Choosing my most memorable dive of the year is really tough this year as there was several really outstanding dives, namely the Lunokhods(20m) in Shetland, the Zenobia(41m) in Cyprus, the James Barrie(43m) in Scapa Flow, the Taurus(52m) off the East Coast, the Jacona(73m) in the Moray Firth but, if I had to choose one it would have to go to the Jacona, as we were the first ever group to dive her.

At the beginning of 2003 I joined the evergrowing ranks of the Closed Circuit divers after purchasing a AP Inspiration rebreather, I have found it has revolutionised my diving with increased bottom times & shorter decompression penalties. I managed 85 dives this year with trips to Canna, Muck, Coll, Tiree, Mull, The Firth of Forth, The Summer Isles, Scapa Flow, Turkey & Gran Canaria amongst my usual local stuff around the NE coast of Scotland. The best dive of the year was undoubtedly the wreck of The Baku Standard(57m) in 20m visibility lying off the East coast about 20miles South of Aberdeen, I have done this wreck several times but never in the conditions I experienced that day.
