ay 2007
As July approaches, activities, both in the U.S. and Lithuania, are increasing in intensity. Excitement builds in the hearts and minds of the campers who look forward for either returning for another session or anticipating their first. Many have met Christ for the first time in their lives at camp and several have put Him on in baptism after additional study at their home congregations. Leadership skills were developed in camp and are now being put to good use in the church. Two camp sessions will be held, one for ages 8-12 and one for ages 13-18. This year, Ed Humphries of Gateway church of Christ and Paul Franks of Enterprise Boulevard church of Christ will serve as directors. Good things happen in camp and thought you would want to get a brief look. There are a lot of details which need to be accomplished in order to have a smooth and safe camp.

Ilia wrote, "I was talking to our young members, who are going to be counselors, to assign responsibilities for summer camp such as hygiene kits distribution, trash and territory clean up, sound system and sports equipment, translation, refreshments distribution and etc. It will help us to be more prepared and organized. It lets them to feel themselves a part of the team work." A lot of other details are being addressed by Lithuanians. They are excited about this outreach program and see it as a blessing to the children and the counselors.

Every camper is responsible for raising their travel funds and those at Gateway have been busy in hosting talent shows and yard sales to pay for airfares and miscellaneous expenses. Some have been done and others are planned. Go to http://www.gatewaycoc.org/229226.ihtml to look at their website for history and plans. They leave July 4th. Ed Humprhies has been preparing the curriculum with the theme, We Are One. He has worked hard to provide instructions and suggestions to the other teachers based on lessons learned from past camps. The campers will be spiritually uplifted. Paul Franks is coordinating raising of funds for both camps. As of April 27, all of the funds except $4500 have been raised. Scott Jordan has prepared a full schedule of games and activities including a full list of supplies that will be needed for each event. Many others are busily engaged in camp preparations. Pray for their wisdom in judgment and their energy to complete all tasks. Pray for the success of Camp Ruta again this year.

Camp sessions could not be held without the financial gifts by those very important people who don't get to go to Lithuania and receive directly the joys of seeing the faces of the children and hearing their grateful thanks. You are unsung heros to them because they don't see you face to face. However, you won't be an unsung hero to God and Jesus. Your help is needed to support a camper. Only $100 will pay for a child's expenses at camp, including transportation to and from camp, food, cabins, snacks, and on, and on, and on. Your reward is knowing a Lithuanian child will receive needed teaching about Christ's love and perhaps their only contact with a dedicated Christian. Who knows what good will come from your contribution? Only God. Some of the $4500 shortfall has come in, but more is needed. Send you check to:
