Rejoice With Rima

After beginning her studies with Juozas in Alytus, Rima moved to Vilnius to attend Vilnius University.  Originally, she did not believe in God, now, Ilia says she is like a sponge in absorbing God's word.  Sunday, March 11, she put on her Lord in baptism and the whole church there is rejoicing with Rima. Unfortunately, she has been diagnosed with cancer, so let's keep her in our prayers both as a newly born child of God and one fighting this awful disease. She has become very active in the church.

Isn't it interesting how their arms are shaped like a heart? Looks like God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit are rejoicing to see a new sister born into the Kingdom.

Rima, in the middle, is joined by others in her new family as they sing praises to the Lord.

Rejoice with Asta

Asta is a widow with two teenager children. She has been studying with Juozas and the church has been helping her financially since she has hearing problems and struggles to sustain her family alone. Juozas writes, "After Sunday Worship we went to the hotel's pool. Asta accepted Jesus as her Savior and she was baptized in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit for remission of her sins. Almost all the church witnessed this joyful event.

Asta hugs her two children.

As is their custom, the church gathers around they new sisters and offers prayers to God.

Visit to Panevezys

While Danny was in Vilnius in January, it was decided that Ilia and Juozas would make alternating monthly visits to Panevezys. Here's two of their latest reports.

Ilia wrote,. "On February 25th I and my wife made a trip to Panevezys Church. I preached a sermon on God is with us to encourage the people. Also I led songs and prayers. After the worship we stayed for several hours for fellowship and a cake that Jurgita made for us. This trip was a huge blessing for me personally. I was very glad to see all the young people from Summer camps."

Juozas wrote regarding his March visit. "We (Donvina, Indre and I) went to Panevezys. We met in Jurgita's place. They have nice classroom for meetings. I preached there about "Keeping faith". We had fellowship and a cake that Jurgita baked. 12 people were present: Ruta, Ieva, Ilma, Jurgita, Kristina, Darius, two girls and their mother, Donvina, Indre and I. After worship all the youth went to pizza place for lunch and fellowship. We had a good time together. We talked about summer camps, plans to come to Vilnius to university (Ilma this year is finishing a high school and planning to come to Vilnius to University). We spend good day in Panevezys and came back to Vilnius at night."

Vilnius Web Page and English Blog

Check out the new Blog at http://vilnius1435.wordpress.com. It's in English.  Their new  web page is alive and brings fruits for the Kingdom of God. Take a look at it at www.vkb.lt, especially the "foto albumas." Appropriately, it's in Lithuanian, but even an English speaker like me can appreciate the layout and hard work of Ilia and Juozas

New Ministries in the Church

The Vilnius church has stated its vision as "To be a spiritually growing church through service to God, the congregation and the community, teaching and holding to the sound doctrine of the Bible and expressing the love of Christ in our lives."  The church supports the vision and more members are getting involved.

Women’s prayer breakfast.

The first prayer breakfast for the women took place at Ilia and Diava' flat. Daiva organized the prayer breakfast and lead the first one. At the breakfast, the women prayed for different needs of the church and individuals, ate together and enjoyed fellowship. The prayer breakfast will continue one time a month.

Women’s Ministry

Rima has begun a women's ministry with new ideas The new ideas were cheerfully received.

Youth Breakfast

With Juozas' encouragement, Tomas offered to start (at least once per month) a youth prayer breakfast on Sunday before Worship in the office. After they decided to begin on Sunday, Juozas called everyone, Tomas prepared a short devotional, and Rima arranged for the food. In the same meeting, they discussed Rima teaching the ladies class on Saturday. Juozas said, "On Sunday morning, the first youth prayer breakfast began at 9:00 a.m which is two ours before Worship at11:00 a.m.). They had some spiritual songs, prayer and sandwiches and celebrated Dalia's (Asta's daughter) birthday with a cake. Four members and four visitors were present. After that all youth came to worship with a big smile on their faces."

Character for Kids

Charles and Lynda Landreth held another seminar for future teachers at the University of Klaipeda. This was Lynda's first visit to Klaipeda. Charles has established strong ties with the administrators and teachers at U of K and they look forward the seminars.

Another Year, Another Birthday.

Kestutis wrote, "On April 1st after worship service we had a fellowship and a birthday party for VIOLETA whose birthday was on March 30th. She is a member from October, 1998. Also, three teenagers had their birthdays during that days, but only two of them were present - AUSTEJA and DEIVDAS. Austeja, Violeta's daughter,  is 14 years old and Deividas, Galina's son, is now13 years old."

We rejoice with them.
