Gala June 2007

The Group held its annual Gala on the weekend of June 9th and 10th 2007. Units from classes 104/105/108/109 and 127 were joined by the steam railmotor and the visiting Wickham railbus from the Middleton Railway - recently repainted into Research Department livery. Attendance was much improved from the last event and the opportunity was taken to run trains every half an hour and to use the new signalling system at Carrog - which enabled more than one train to be in Carrog station at a time.  If you attended the event and you wish to comment on it or to make a suggestion then e-mail us at feedback@LlangollenRailcars.com
Here are a collection of photos of the event - you can even watch a video by clicking the rotating button below.

Llangollen Station with the class 109 on the left and the class 104 on the right. Trains ran every half an hour and so there were often times with more than one train in each station at once. (Alistair Grieve)

Working its way towards Carrog is a three-car set consisting of a class 127 Derby suburban power car, a class 105 Cravens trailer car and a class 104 Birmingham power car. The beauty of the Llangollen scenery can be appreciated (Alistair Grieve)

The steam autotrailer clatters through Desside Halt - this was the Great Western's attempt at low cost trains, which was never a financial success. compared to the diesels.(Dewi Davies)

Secondman Jim Jeffrey and Traction Trainee David Fearnley were responsible for most of the coupling and uncoupling of units throughout the weekend - they clearly enjoy the work (Ian Bradbury)
