The class 141 unit is normally based at the Midland Railway where restoration was carried out between 2002 and 2007. It worked there between 2007 and 2010 when it was moved to the Weardale Railway in County Durham to assist with the launch of a new community service. The loan was initially to have been for one year but the loan has been extended and at present the unit is still outbased at Wolsingham Depot on the Weardale Railway.
