AVIS

After a busy week imaging and observing at the Kelling Heath star party I packed my gear away and flew out to Madrid to view and image the Annular Eclipse.
Madrid was Eclipse mad being directly on the centre line and the first eclipse since the mid 1800's for a Spanish city, most schools and shops closed so the public could witness the event.
My hotel was situated in the southern suburbs with a direct south view unobstructed by tall buildings, and on eclipse morning my room looked like something from NASA.

Having power supply for laptops, camera and mount it was the perfect place to image from its small balcony.
After some test shots all went well and the usable image total was well over 300 out of this I have selected 120 frames to make this small AVI.
At the start you can see how dark it got during the annular as there are a few shots taken from my hotel room balcony looking out over the southern city.
The Solar images were shot with a Takhashi FS60 and a Canon D20 a Thousand Oaks type2 solar filter was also used.

At second and third contact even in the very compressed files on the AVI you can see the rugged terrain on the Moons limb.
These in the full size shots look very good just showing what a excellent small Eclipse scope the Tak 60 is, and one I will be using to image the Total Eclipse in Turkey March 06

Turkey Eclipse AVI

In March 06 myself and family travelled to Side in Turkey to view and image the total Eclipse, the totality was 3 min 40 seconds locally.
The day of the Eclipse was clear blue sky from first contact right the way through to fourth contact allowing me to image the entire Eclipse.
This small AVI is made from 400 frames shot with a Canon 20D DSLR at prime focus on a Takahashi FS60C Florite APO  refractor.
The partial phase was shot with a thousand oaks type2 solar filter,
