MAYFIELD 169-9 v ETCHINGHAM & FONTRIDGE 105 All out
 
Etchingham & Fontridge Cricket Club travelled to Mayfield last Sunday, keen to record their first win of the year. It has been a some time since their last victory, as the club reformed this spring after a 67 year since absence. Playing a 30 overs match against their hosts from Mayfield, Etchingham were buoyed by a stirling bowling performance by wily veteran Martin Kneller. The "Scourge of Mayfield" produced figures of 5-66  and gave Etchingham real hope. Some tidy bowling from Ricky Everest, Matt Neve and Dan Bryant, helped keep Mayfield to a total of 163. Blom (46) , Sharma (31) and Meakin (28) contributed the bulk of the home side's score, before each was dispatched by Kneller.
But alas, Etchingham were undone by the pace of the Mayfield attack, and once skipper Ollie Smith was given LBW, the run chase was always going to be difficult. Debutant Dan Smith then top scored with a fine worklike 31. But Meakin 3-15, Bloom 2-9 and an impressive 2 wickets from 2 maiden overs for Parsons proved too much for the visitors.
