Volunteering

The shop, as a community owned operation, relies very heavily on unpaid volunteers to staff the shop, to assist the paid Manager and Assistant Manager.
The Manager and Assistant Manager work shifts, so most of the time one or the other is on duty.

Volunteers working in the shop keeps costs down and also creates much more of a community atmosphere in the store.

Volunteers can work as many, or as few, hours as they want to, at whatever time intervals suits them.
If you can only spare a couple of hours a month, this is still just as useful as someone who can put in ten hours a week.
Volunteers can help in a variety of ways, the most important way of helping is serving customers at the till.
However, some volunteers do not want the responsibility of using the till, these volunteers help in other ways, such as filling the shelves, cleaning, helping to sort deliveries and various other tasks that have to be carried out in a busy shop.

During the main summer holiday months there is a greater need for volunteers, as some of the regular volunteers will be on holiday and not available.
Also there will be several weeks when either the Manager or assistant manager will be on holiday, so more volunteers will be needed to help cover some of these hours.

If you would like to know more about volunteering e-mail info@etchinghamstores.co.uk if you want to offer your time as a volunteer, fill in the form below.

In the 'Details' box, list the days and times that you are most likely to be available, this will help the rota co-ordinator to contact the right people when there are certain hours that need covering.
