Suspension Development
Suspension set-up is always a matter of individual opinion so you have to decide for your self. Different people have different ideas so there are many answers to the same questions. All we can do here is tell you what we do as a result of years of experience and research. There are 2 golden rules with the Capri. Don't go too low and don't make the rear too stiff. Most of the weight is at the front so making it stiffers works well. Making the back too stiff will cause loss of traction and stability. We go for stiffer front springs with good dampers. Originals are fine if in good condition. We stay with stock single leaf springs on the rear but replace the dampers with adjustable units. Do not be tempted to set the damping rate too high. That's the mistake most people make. start on no 2 or 3 Of course we fit poly bushes all round and no Capri has ever left our wokshop without an axle kit fitted.

This is what a 2.8 i looks like when you lower it by about an inch this is what we used Complete poly bush set £80 Front springs £40 Strut brace (2.9 EFI) £80 Axle location kit £65 Total £265 or less than £200 with a current club membership We also fitted adjustable rear dampers from AVO - just over £100

The simple ideas are always the best It takes about 10 minutes to fit and it makes a big difference Rear discs are optional but you need an axle location kit £65 or less Beware of poor imitations with no pedigree |
Without question, the most important improvement you will make. This little device is worth 10 times it's cost. It reduces latteral movement of the axle by over 80% Hard cornering will never be the same again! Don't get conned into the X frame rubbish. When you have actually done some testing and development, you soon see that forward only bars produces the best reasults. |
