OS Sheet 49; 799514
On the south shore of Loch a' Choire stands Beinn Mheadhoin. Its north east face is a series of excellent corries above Kingairloch House but the opposite side of the hill is less interesting as it drops, either to the inaccessible Glensanda super quarry through open moorland typical of central Morvern.
From the B8043 road, which is narrow with passing places and carries commercial vehicles so please do not use the passing places for parking, there are three approaches to the hill. Although all are private only one, the approach through the policies of the Kingairloch House, is likely to cause problems. The house is private and lived in by its owners and its approach road along the north shore of Loch a' Choire is also private.
The alternative approaches are:
1. Over Abhainn na Coinnich and along a forest footpath north west of Kingairloch House to North Corry then follow the path south-west to the old mill. From the mill climb the ENE ridge of Bheinn Mheadhoin, which, although narrow as you climb higher leads directly to the summit (739m). Rather than return by the same route follow the Beul Choire nan Each ridge to Coire Reidh and descend one of the spurs to the head of Loch a'Choire. Approx. 2hrs 45m. 7km.
2. Park near the outflow of Loch Uisge and cross Allt an Loch. Climb up by Coire Shalachain to the twin, flat tops of Meall na Greine. From there descend to the tiny lochans at Bealach a'Choire Bhain and follow the wide NW ridge of Beinn Mheadhoin past a false top and another tiny lochan before reaching the true summit. Approx. 2hrs. 30m, 5km. Your descent can then be either by the narrow ENE ridge to old mill and North Corry or by Coire Reidh as before.
